We'll keep plugging at it.   Concrete5 and CubeCart4 are things that we've not seen before - I fear the former does in fact canonicalize things but owing to other issues (networking) am not sure.

These packages are built to install on a web hosting server so their documentation leaves a lot to be desired - they assume you're doing this all via the Web Hoster's utilities or cpanel.

You can definitely do it that way, then.  I was in the middle of
replying that you would have a problem if the internal and external
clients accessed it the same way.  Just create name-based vhosts for
hostname and www.exampledom.com on eth1's IP.

Actually, I should caveat that by saying that if the application
canonicalizes the urls it generates, you will still be stuck.
