I'm not sure what the confusion is. I signed up for the Nationwide Select
450 voice plan (equivalent plan to what I had prior to Droid) and added the
$30 data plan (about $90 or so excluding fees and taxes), and I can ssh to
boxes. More importantly is I have it set up on the various wireless networks
(WPA2, WPA2 Enterprise) and when those networks are in range, it shifts data
usage to that so I am not touching the expensive connectivity, though it is
there if I need it.

And now, it looks like they've restructured the plans to make more sense,
since I see a voice/email/web plan for $99 straight up.

Unlimited means unlimited time frames for data transfer of up to 5GB a
month. VZW loves the 5GB limit.

Basically, if you're looking this way, you have to spend about $80 minimum
to play. And if you wish to tether, when they offer it, it'll be a few
bucks more. Reportedly supposed to be set up so that one way or another,
for Droid data usage and tethering data to be $60 add on to voice.
