I'm currently running both Fedora 10 and Ubuntu 9.04, so I'm not currently 
latest and greatest. (Never been greatest to begin with...) For me, yum 
and yumex (the gui version) have generally pretty well handled 
dependencies. Not perfect mind you, but good enough for my needs in that 
if a dependency problem exceeds what yum will handle by itself, I get 
things moving with a second invocation and that has been sufficient to fix 
the problem.

I do think that Ubuntu has a more seamless experience if you must run 
proprietary drivers like nvidia.
