[ale] is there a mobile service that can connect it's phone to a laptop with "good" download speed ?

I don't know about t-mobile, but I know that my old Nokia, non-pda would 
work as a tethered internet dial up device.  I never did it, but it was 
supported on Windows by AT&T and my research indicated there were folks 
doing it under linux.  I don't recall the Nokia model though.
