The fun with this is while there is a need to attach a recurring event in
physical reality to a recurring event in the structured calendar, physical
reality doesn't play nicely.

For instance:
Where do we start the year? At the apogee or perigee of earth transit around
the sun? Some mid-point in between? Or do we tie to a stellar alignment of
sun, earth and stars?

Too bad our rotation period is not an integer divisor of the orbit period.

Perhaps since the moon has an orbital period of 28 days we could go for a 13
months year and a 1 day global party and every 4 years we get a 2 day party.
(I like thanksgiving 'cause it's got lots of food and it's an excuse to hang
out with friends and eat. Maybe a global food day celebration. Yeah.
_Everyone_ makes food for 2 other people and they all sit down to eat.)

Of course, poor Charles will miss it all since he hangs with the "it was all
a sound stage" crowd. :-)
