Athlon MP processors are not mobile, they are Multi Processor.  MPs are
(were, at least) absolutely identical to XPs.  I am running a pair of
Athlon XP 1700s on my old Tyan Tiger MP board here.

IIRC, sometime around the bump from 266 to 333 mhz FSB they made some
minor changes to the XP so that it would no longer be used in a
multiprocessor setup.  I am pretty sure almost all XPs can be modified
to run in an MP board, although I am not sure about the most recent ones
(I stopped paying attention).

The MP are still the same core as the XP, but the numbers don't match up
since the FSB is still 266 on all the MPs.  For example, an MP 2800
might run at the same clock speed as an XP 3200 (I made those numbers
up, I don't know which ones actually correspond to each other).  They
rate them down because of the performance hit due to the difference in FSB.

Anyway, I don't know why everyone is arguing over socket A chips.  They
are all getting slow by todays standards, anyway :p.  Does anyone know
when the next generation of AMD 64 bit chips is due out?  I'm thinking I
will hold off on my next motherboard upgrade until then, will I have to
wait too long? :)
