[ale] Desktop UPS

One nice solution is the Tripplite SMART2200 Tower. Has six outlets on back
and is around $700. You can run 5 desktops off of that if they are reasonably
close to one another. Tripplite also has software for shutdown over a network
or directly with serial cables. The UPS comes with 1 smart port and two dumb
ports. I've used the server client shutdown functions with success in a SGI
lab situation. The clients get told to shutdown before the server over the
network.

I like APC for solid quality construction and a variety of products to choose
from. I like Tripplite for the price and reliability for the top end stuff.
I have a CyberPower 1500 from Bestbuy at home that has been superb.
