v. 3 _can_ use tcp protocol instead of udp so it can at least be handled
by tcp_wrappers. There is also an experimental version that uses
kerberose for machine authentication. None of this stuff is available
for the windows platforms (unless it's on the new "Unix Services for
Windows 2003 Server" CD that the evil empire just sent me [along with a
demo copy of 2003 server for both 32 and 64 bit systems] -bletch!-)
