Yeah, it's back on my radar as of Friday night so I'll be trying again,
it might have been a server problem just when I was trying to
connect.

Nope, this guy has production customers who are reliant on freeswan so
and it won't be going away for them.  Trying to upgrade the kernel and
freeswan versions for them is when I found the problem, this new thing
came up after the fact.
