I'll go one better! The following line from my root cron job will synch
the system clock with an easy to use time host, then set the hardware
clock to the system time at 3:19 am every other day. You can plug in
your favorite rdate server instead of the ntp1.csx.cam.ac.uk server. 

19 3 */2 * * /usr/bin/rdate -s ntp1.csx.cam.ac.uk && /sbin/hwclock
--systohc --utc
