[ale] Acceptance of Linux on the desktop

I'm not so sure I can agree entirely. Over the years, I've looked at many 
items (scanners, cameras, and what have you) and found _no_ Mac support 
included in the box. Support for Windows, almost always (well into the 
99+% range), but support for the Mac trails significantly.
