[ale] CUPS, SuSE 8.0, and HP Officejet solution

I found that downloading and installing the latest hpoj tarball allowed
me the use all the features of the printer and to integrate with the
default SuSE 8.0 CUPs installation seamlessly. I acquired a HP
Officejet D125 scanner/printer/copier with USB. I wanted to use it
under SuSE 8.0.

Here was my procedure:

Downloaded and installed the latest HP drivers off Sourceforge
http://hpoj.sourceforge.net

Stopped CUPS
/etc/init.d/cups stop

Plugged in the USB printer connection

Ran the HP driver software
ptal-init setup

Started CUPS

Configured CUPS to use the HP 990 Deskjet driver for the Officejet
printer. (This is recommended in the docs on the website)

So far the duplex printing, colors, and resolution are working just
perfectly. I believe the version 0.8 of the "hpoj" driver package,
which comes with SuSE 8.0 would have worked okay. However, I wanted all
the features of the printer so used hpoj 0.90. The key here is setting
up SuSE 8.0 to start ptal-init in the startup scripts before CUPS starts
or CUPS will not see the printer properly.
