Yes. Setting up a totally different mx record with the domain pointing to
your server should fix the problem. I think the thing you're experiencing is
that bellsouth only likes blarg at bellsouth.net email accounts accessing their
servers...

Subject: [ale] Bellsouth DSL and MX

Hi all,

I'm trying to setup email for an office equipped with Bellsouth Business
DSL. We have a static ip and hope to host all of our servers in-house.
Email is an essential part of the office's business but I'm having some
issues I need to resolve. I have sendmail running and I can send email out
to the world fine but I can't receive email using any @x.x.x.bellsouth.net
addresses. The error is "Relaying Denied". Understandable. My question
is, eventually a domain will be pointed to this DSL. If I get an MX record
setup through the domain hosting service will that avoid the problem I'm
having with bellsouth since the addresses would be x at mydomain.com? Want to
figure that out before I switch the domains over from the webhosting
provider [that sucks] that we're presently using.

Thanks,

Ben
