[ale] ide reset

Peter,

This hard drive is either an IBM hard drive or a Western Digital (I
don't know for sure, but their of reputable manufacture).

The strange thing is it's happening with such frequency.  When it
happens at every :41:55, that's on the hour (when occurring) since the
machine was booted.
