[ale] cpio

Since I can't nfs serve off my linux box I'm trying to cpio archive the
files on this CD and then ftp them to another machine. I also tried scp.
I get them to the sun 420 running 2.7 and try the cpio -i < archive.cpio
and get an error:

[150]root at db11.wc1p-/tmp/OracleExtensions> cpio -i < OracleExtensions.cpio
cpio: Not a cpio file, bad header.
1 errors

I also tried -b for byte swap and no go. A sum shows the 2 sun boxes getting
the same value while the original is different...

Thoughts?
