I have a SCSI ZIP and I get similar messages during boot if I don't
have a disk in the drive. If there's a disk in it, it will find the
size and everything...

Here's an example of what it looks like when I load the SCSI module
without a disk in the drive:

Oct 8 21:12:52 second kernel: scsi1 <fdomain>: BIOS version 3.4 at 0xca000 using scsi id 7
Oct 8 21:12:52 second kernel: scsi1 <fdomain>: TMC-18C30 chip at 0x140 irq 5
Oct 8 21:12:52 second kernel: scsi1 : Future Domain TMC-16x0 SCSI driver, version 5.44
Oct 8 21:12:52 second kernel: scsi : 2 hosts.
Oct 8 21:12:54 second kernel: Vendor: IOMEGA Model: ZIP 100 Rev: D.09
Oct 8 21:12:54 second kernel: Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Oct 8 21:12:54 second kernel: Detected scsi removable disk sda at scsi1, channel 0, id 5, lun 0
Oct 8 21:12:54 second kernel: fdomain: REQUEST SENSE Key = 2, Code = 3a, Qualifier = 0
Oct 8 21:12:54 second last message repeated 3 times
Oct 8 21:12:54 second kernel: sda : READ CAPACITY failed.
Oct 8 21:12:54 second kernel: sda : status = 0, message = 00, host = 0, driver = 28
Oct 8 21:12:54 second kernel: sda : extended sense code = 2
Oct 8 21:12:54 second kernel: sda : block size assumed to be 512 bytes, disk size 1GB.
Oct 8 21:12:54 second kernel: sda:scsidisk I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 0, absolute sector 0
Oct 8 21:12:54 second kernel: unable to read partition table

And here's what it looks like with a disk in the drive:

Oct 8 21:15:10 second kernel: scsi2 <fdomain>: BIOS version 3.4 at 0xca000 using scsi id 7
Oct 8 21:15:10 second kernel: scsi2 <fdomain>: TMC-18C30 chip at 0x140 irq 5
Oct 8 21:15:10 second kernel: scsi2 : Future Domain TMC-16x0 SCSI driver, version 5.44
Oct 8 21:15:10 second kernel: scsi : 2 hosts.
Oct 8 21:15:12 second kernel: Vendor: IOMEGA Model: ZIP 100 Rev: D.09
Oct 8 21:15:12 second kernel: Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Oct 8 21:15:12 second kernel: Detected scsi removable disk sda at scsi2, channel 0, id 5, lun 0
Oct 8 21:15:12 second kernel: SCSI device sda: hdwr sector= 512 bytes. Sectors= 196608 [96 MB] [0.1 GB]
Oct 8 21:15:12 second kernel: sda: Write Protect is off
Oct 8 21:15:12 second kernel: sda: sda4

I don't think this is related to your eject problem, and unfortunately
I don't know what could caus it either. Unless the ATAPI driver has
a problem talking to an IDE ZIP drive for some reason...
