[ale] OT: mac osx copy

Gentoo Linux is officially supported on nine different CPU 
architectures, PPC and PPC64 among them. At A Previous Employer (tm) I 
had Gentoo on x86_64, Via C3 x86-alike (Wyse thin client), and SPARC at 
the same time, all happily running modern versions of everything.
