[ale] OT: unlimited plans !?!

Well, I dunno about you, but I paid exactly zero dinero for all of my
Verizon phones, going back donkey's ages, including both Kyocera Palm
Pilots. When Verizon is giving me a $500 phone, and getting most of
that back over time each month, I cannot really complain if they have
made efforts to prevent me from jumping ship to another carrier.
Although, using CDMA instead of GSM is a pretty big step in that
direction. It seems most of their modern phones also support GSM.

Reading their notes on unlocking policy, it seems they do unlock their
prepaid phones after a year.

OTOH, I can get really hacked sometimes that there have been zero
Android updates to my HTC phone for about 4 years now, and apparently
nothing on the horizon. Apparently they want me to chunk a perfectly
good phone.
