[ale] Comcast GigE in East Cobb?

Just got off the phone with Comcast.  Modem recall replacement, but she
asked "is there anything else I can help you with" ...


So I asked about GigE service at my house.  Took 15 minutes, but

a) it is available here now, at my address! I'm in East Cobb near Sandy
Plains Rd off Post Oak Tritt.

b) It is $499/month - this is business class

c) There is a setup fee. She couldn't find it. I think the 2Gbps service
they offered 2 yrs ago was $800-$1000 setup AND you had to provide your
own 10Gbps router. They would not connect it to a 1Gbps router.

Anyway, thought I'd share.

I suspect anyone living off Johnson's Ferry would be able to get this
too, since the fibre lines come from that side of Cobb, not up Sandy
Plains (which is almost a stones throw from my subdivision).

Of course, their DB saying it is available and actually getting it
installed in any specific location are very different things.  However,
in May my location was only good for 250Mbps service.

If all this does is get GigE from AT&T for $120/month available, that is
a good thing. Competition = goodness.
