[ale] Error with git clone, pull, or push while in screen and SSH'd into a server

I was quite puzzled on this as well. The OP has a rather extensive set of
config stuff copied from web searches. Somewhere in that, something is
detecting a screen session and not loading all the rest of the environment
noise. I'll see about a look into screenrc itself.
