Funny.

They have all sorts of signs at the borders these days to make sure you know they’re posting in km/h and not mp/h.

I thought the same thing when I saw the gas prices on my first stop. When my 13 gallon tank was still filling at 40.00 on the pump I knew something was up.

With their liters not only is it not cheaper it is quite a bit more expensive. I’ve often wondered why the oil companies in America haven’t gotten together to try to force liters on us so they can start incrementing the price without a noticing.

This, by the way, suggests US and Canada use same mile (where they use mile – Canada of course uses km rather than mile in most distances these days):
International mile
The international mile is precisely equal to 1.609344 km (which is 25146⁄15625 km or 1 9521⁄15625 km in fraction).[41]<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mile#cite_note-45> It was established as part of the 1959 international yard and pound<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_yard_and_pound> agreement reached by the United States<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States>, the United Kingdom<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom>, Canada<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada>, Australia<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia>, New Zealand<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Zealand>, and South Africa<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Africa>,[42]<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mile#cite_note-FOOTNOTEBarbrow197616.E2.80.9317.2C_20-46> which resolved small but measurable differences that had arisen from separate physical standards each country had maintained for the yard.[43]<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mile#cite_note-FOOTNOTEBigg1964-47> As with the earlier statute mile<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mile#Statute_mile>, it continues to comprise 1,760 yards or 5,280 feet.

yeah, but Canadian miles are shorter than American miles, aren't they?

First time I went to Canada (many years ago) I said "this is awesome, I can go 110 and gas is 50 cents a gallon..."
