Hmm. I have a spiffy new 2020 Prusa Mendel I3 built from a kit (
http://folgertech.com ). I can recommend this kit highly, 'specially for
the price, a mere $300. First Print was back in mid-March, and I'm now
busily printing enhancements and making tweaks to her (she's called Cora).
I'm using my aged IBM R50e running Debian Jessie for control. The newer
laptop has artofillusion ( http://artofillusion.org ) on it (my current 3d
modeling software of choice). I'm exploring openSCAD ( http://openscad.org
), which offers some interesting advantages for someone who's all
mouse-thumbs like me. I could at least theoretically bring the machine in
and have it print stuff during the talk.

Is that an interesting subject, or have 3D printers been Done to Death for
our audience? I know that folks who have co-memberships in Freeside or
Decatur Makers probably already have 3D printing exposure and probably
rabid opinions of their own on what works and what doesn't.
