[ale] Recommendations for my next distro?

Primary os for servers = Debian stable
Primary desktop for work = Debian stable
Personal desktop vm = Arch
Dev workstations = Ubuntu server LTS, older SuSE
laptop partitions = Debian stable, Ubuntu desktop LTS, Arch, Fedora, Win 8.1

I think I've spent too much time looking around.... 8-}

I used Debian stable for everything for a long time, but towards the end of a release cycle (when stable really => stale), I needed some newer apps on the desktop and for some dev work.

I tend to use either console, fvwm or lxde, so my biggest challenge for the more desktop oriented distros is figuring out how to cleanly turn off or switch desktop environments; plus just a cheat sheet for their package management tool. My actual day-to-day management/use seems similar reguardless of the distro - maybe I'm just used to the lowest common denominator? 9-)

I'm curious what distributions people on this list use, and how they rate in difficulty compared to Ubuntu. I'd also prefer to use something a lot of other people use so I have more people I can run to for help. :)
