Bill didn’t “invent” anything including DOS or Windows.   He bought DOS from someone else to resell to IBM.   Windows was the result of IBM and Microsoft starting a project to do GUI to compete with Apple (who also didn’t invent GUI – Xerox did).   IBM and Microsoft had a parting of the ways with lawsuits and recriminations but the end results were IBM did OS/2 and MS did Windows.   Since Windows like DOS ran on multiple vendors’ PCs it took off better than OS/2.

Maybe Bill would be a good candidate at that – for years people have said IE stands for Internet Exploder.  :-)

Keep in mind that, for a lot of people, Bill invented computers. Their first (only?) computer experience is with Windows. Bill invented Windows. Ergo, Bill invented computers.
