I have an M8, and I highly recommend it.
It's the third HTC phone I've had, and I have been happy with all of them.
I've even been happy with HTC support when I've needed then to address a couple of (self-inflicted) hardware failures. A miracle in itself.
Of course, the first thing I did was root them and install custom roms on them.
I hear a lot of people like the HTC Sense interface, but I don't use any of the social media stuff, and my "cloud" is in my computer room, so I don't miss things athat others might.

I guess I was lucky that I mostly was involved with Dell , HP & IBM
servers, and the same for our desktop/laptops...
I'm thinking the HTC One M8 is looking better & better right now..
