Pretty much any linux file manager will use sftp:// - I hear.

Steps:
1) configure openssh-server as normal; verify the ssh client connects as expected.
2) Install the x2goserver on the remote machine.
3) Install the x2goclient (linux, Windows, OSX) on the client
4) Run the x2go-client, setup a new connection, tweak the settings for your
bandwidth, resolution, and desired DE (xfce/lxde/pure-WM) - avoid accel required
desktops like Unity.
5) Connect - using either the password or ssh-keys (supports ~/.ssh/config too).
6) Smile at the performance and that audio "just works"

Only warning is to get the Windows x2go-client from after August to avoid huge
CPU bug on the server-side. May want to get some fonts too. Currently patched
Linux systems have the bug fix already.

I haven't tried this one myself - just haven't needed it with x2go working
amazingly well, plus in a multi-user environment, openVPN is probably better for
end-users.
