I'm not averse to bleeding edge tech, I just won't put it in production 
until I've vetted it.

That said, the idea of caching (for block devices and filesystems) is 
hardly new in the Linux kernel; while the bcache subsystem might be, the 
kernel has lots of strange and interesting caching mechanisms.  They 
don't necessarily have to use RAM.
