Hi Jim,

When I was testing, I was on a laptop with a lithium chemistry battery.  However, I was figuring this would work with a UPS as well.  I think it would depend on whether the lead acid battery was designed for deep cycles.  Also, if you're draining power from the UPS, wouldn't it automatically shut off whenever it thinks the battery is critical?  It shouldn't let the battery go too low.
