[ale] 5.x.x.x IP range

I have set up a Freeradius box on Ubuntu in order to authenticate remote
Doze users against Active Vasectomy. It all works fine with Doze users
dialing in to the router using PPTP.

What took me a while to figure out was that the client IP's coming in from
remote offices were all 5.x.x.x, rather than the 192.168.100.x and
192.168.110.x etc that we have assigned to our various regional offices.
Why would the dial-up clients be getting these addresses rather than an IP
from the DHCP range on the router in the relevant 192.168.x.x range?

What is 5.x.x.x? I've never heard of them before and am I allowed to use
them? More importantly, where are they coming from? I never set anything to
offer IP's in that range, unless it's some kind of default.
