That's not good. Other option is some (many) laptops refuse to work at all
once the battery is completely toasted. Check it with a meter. If you see
0V on all combos of terminals, that's the next replacement choice (try
power with battery removed first).

Unless the cord has been kicked out of the plug, the internal socket is
likely not the culprit. The power board is a more likely failure point as
it must both provide power to the system and charging circuit.
