[ale] OT: amazon web store redirects?

Anyone doing URL redirects in their web store setup?

We have a web store setup at Amazon and a landing page has been created under that web store. They asked me to set DNS to point a different domain where the original web store is which I’ve done. However they can’t get the traffic to the landing page they’ve created. If the full URL of the landing page is typed in browser it works.

I’ve explained that DNS ultimately (albeit simplistically so please don’t be pedantic about what else it does for MX etc…) resolves a name to an IP and once a user goes to a site the web service has to decide what to do with the URL they got.

Never having logged into an Amazon web store myself I’m not sure what, if any, tools they have for doing URL redirections to specific landing pages. I have seen them in Apache of course and also in Cpanel on some hosted sites in the past.

I’m just wondering if anyone out there is doing this already for their own Amazon web store and if they’d be willing to give me some ideas I can pass on to the folks that do this. Or alternatively if anyone knows that it explicitly can NOT be done because Amazon doesn’t allow it (i.e. because they want you to pay for a second web store).

Please don’t tell me to call Amazon support as of course that would be what I would fall back on to tell the non-technical user.

So again my question isn’t how to setup the DNS record. It also isn’t how to create a landing page. Both of those are done. The question is how to have the web store accept the URL that is being passed to it as a valid one and redirect it to the specific landing page there.
