I mostly deal with non .us hosts and have never had any major issues 
with the top providers (ovh, server.lu, evoswitch, etc). and yeah, I 
stay away from OpenVZ as well. YMMV, but I have a dedi from kimsufi 
(ovh) with over 1000 days uptime.
