[ale] VPS hosting recommendations?

It seems that most people are in agreement that Linode is a good option that supports OpenSUSE.
I think what I may end up doing is this . . .
Since I have an account with unlimited bandwidth with digitalocean.com, I may just put the web server there on another distro. That would eliminate my concerns with bandwidth charges. I could then use Linode or some other charge-for-bandwidth solution for my other servers that I'm using for testing/doing the stuff I'm blogging about.

The SouthEast LinuxFest runs *everything* off a Linode. Their support is outstanding, and their boxes perform well, and where else can you get a Gentoo box running in 5 minutes??

The downside is price of course ... but I feel the service quality you are given does justify at least some of the premium.

Nearly free speech.net<http://speech.net> scales automatically for increased load and is cheap otherwise. Not for noons or if you need a real vps tho.

That is terrible solution. You get billed for bandwidth as in total data transferred. That option limits bandwidth as in rate of transfer. So, what happens is that your server is always slow, then that one time that you get slash-dotted you get hammered and because it is so slow they each hit refresh 4 times and you pay for it anyway and everyone makes fun of how slow your server is.
What would be useful is a plug-in that notices when a single resource consumes too much bandwidth and starts serving an error.

Some great suggestions, so far. I will also point out that I'm not THAT concerned about production level stability. I mainly use this for a place to thrown up a machine or two to test some things and shut them back down. The only thing I have that is "production" would be a personal website/blog that I have been playing around with. That brings me to my second concern - most of these VPS providers have metered bandwidth. I'm concerned about the situation where my website gets linked on Slashdot and runs up a massive bandwidth charge before the VM melts down. I don't have to worry about that with my current Digital Ocean account, because they have me grandfathered in with unlimited bandwidth. I'm not so concerned about the site staying up in a high load situation as I am having it stay up and rack up a massive bill for the bandwidth consum ed. Many of these companies don't make it entirely clear whether or not they will just cut you off if you hit your cap or if they wi!

 ll start racking up charges.

Does anyone have any recommendations for VPS hosting providers that:
1. Support OpenSUSE install images
2. Have reasonable prices
3. Do not charge huge fees for data transfer?

I have been using digitalocean.com<http://digitalocean.com> for a long time. It costs me roughly $5 per month for their base VM. I've been a customer long enough to be grandfathered in with unlimited data transfer. However, they recently dropped OpenSUSE support/removed the OpenSUSE install images. I contacted them about adding them back, and they are not willing to. I will hold onto my account, since the price is so low and they still support Arch.
However, I want to find a place where I can run OpenSUSE in a VPS/cloud setup for a low price.

Anyone have any recommendations?
