The first thing I thought of when I read this was, "I know a lot of 
married people that have been that way for years, and say it works just 
fine, but I know just as many formerly married people as I do married 
people..."

Just 'cuz the probability is lower than everything else doesn't make it 
untenable or even "bad".  Some applications can tolerate lower 
reliability in exchange for more space---in fact, some applications have 
no choice but to make that trade-off.  It's just that mine, well, can't.
