[ale] VM load average stays around 4.5 and jumps as high as 8 or 9

I have noticed this also.  My "official" work env. is windows, but I do as
much as I can on Linux.  It works much better for me to use Linux in a VM
than the other way around; Windows just doesn't like it nearly as much,
where Linux more or less doesn't care.

YMMV, of course.
