The 26th Large Installation System Administration Conference (LISA '12)
exists because of your great contributions! On behalf of the LISA '12
organizers, I invite you to submit your ideas. 

The Call for Participation (CFP), with submission guidelines and sample
topics, can be found on the USENIX Web site at:

The annual LISA conference is the meeting place of choice for system
administrators, IT architects, and IT engineers. The conference provides
a rich mix of technical training by industry experts, dynamic talks that
inspire attendees to think beyond today, panel discussions for debate
of current issues, ask-the-expert guru sessions, and presentations by
people like you who introduce the next generation of methods and
solutions.

The conference's diverse participants are matched by an equally
broad spectrum of activities:

* Refereed papers are written papers, 8 to 18 pages long, that describe
work that advances the art or practice of system administration. 

* Practice and experience reports are compelling system administration
stories that share useful lessons with the audience.

* New this year! We include a review and response period for authors of
papers and practice and experience reports (PERs) to provide better
transparency in the review process and to increase authors' chances of
acceptance into the conference. Authors of refereed papers and PERs
can use this period to answer questions from reviewers and address any
misconceptions about their submissions.

* Talks are 30- or 60-minute presentations by experts on a single topic
of interest to system administrators.

* Guru sessions: Q&A with an expert! Are you a guru? Share your
expertise with your fellow system administrators and answer questions
from the audience.

* Lightning talks are high-energy 5-minute talks on any topic related
to system administration. Have more than one idea? Sign up to give
more than one.

* Poster session: This is your chance to get feedback from your peers
on research that may not be ready for formal publication.

* Workshops are interactive half-day or full-day sessions that
encourage small group discussion and idea sharing on specific system
administration topics.

* The training program offers tutorials that are also half-day or full-day
sessions, but, unlike workshops, tutorials are generally intended for an
instructor to share knowledge, not to be open discussions.

* Birds-of-a-Feather sessions (BoFs) are informal gatherings held in the
evenings. BoF groups range from users of particular software packages or
products, through those interested in discussing current problems or
issues, to people interested in a particular aspect of computing.

LISA '12 takes place December 9-14, 2012, in San Diego, CA.
