Hi Asher,

I have Comcast 15-16 Mbps down / 3-4 Mbps up service (part of the 
internet, catv, phone bundle).  They're not cheap, but I really like 
it.  I usually get 20-22 Mbps down.  Cable internet is almost 
universally faster than DSL as far as I know.  If you could pony up the 
extra $15 / month (final price difference) for that, that's what I'd 
do.  Of course, if you can't afford it, you can't.  I'd do anything I 
possibly could to avoid dealing with AT&T.  I fired them years ago when 
they bought out Cingular wireless and I've been glad I did.  Of course, 
ALL the mega corporations have more customers than they can handle when 
problems occur.  In either case, expect to make numerous calls and spend 
hours on the phone talking to someone if something goes badly wrong, 
which is rare.  If you're lucky, the person on the other end of the 
phone will speak English.  I will say this, the front line tech support 
at Comcast is accessible 24 hr / day (at least the catv people are), 
usually get you off hold within 10 minutes, generally speaks English, 
and are usually friendly.  Just don't be afraid to ask for escalation if 
they cannot solve your problem.

(PS - If you email me and don't get a quick response, you might want to
call on the phone.  I get about 300 emails per day from alternate energy
