[ale] Weird behavior with Intel 965 graphics

that seems like it's a param for sysctl. look in /etc/sysctl.conf as a
place to make it perm.
Test by looking in /proc/sys/ or /sys and echo that value into a file named
allow_duplicates that _should_ exist already. It may be hiding in the video
chipset namespace somewhere.
