The reason that I have options that I "always use" is because I don't
always control the configuration; most of the commands that I do use, I
use with that assumption.  For example:

  sudo -H emacs <file>
  rsync -PavzHAX src dst
  tar xzf (or "xjf" or "xJf", even though in many circumstances tar
           can autodetect the type of compression, it won't work for
           streams that tar cannot rewind.)

I could probably go on and on.  :-)
