[ale] ext3-fs error (RH 3.4.6-2)

Right - RHEL6 went into general release nearly a year ago and RHEL5 has been out for about 4 years (it is up to RHEL5.8 I think).

RHEL4 goes EOL in Feb 2012 so if this is a RHEL4 system the OP should be planning on upgrading if he wants to keep RedHat support and continue to get bug and security fix updates.

This looks like a RHEL 4 system, judging from its kernel.  However, release 42 is WAY old.  You should try a later kernel update, though this may break the extra non-GPL modules you appear to be running.
