"but they don't support cups"  who is "they"?  Ricoh?  I assume so, because I assume you know Debian supports cups.  Just being redundant in case you don't know.

Really? Lprng died? I hadn't heard that. Ricoh provides scripts to configure
a printer in lprng but they're for Red Hat and/or suse. We use debian. But
they don't support cups.
