[ale] [OT] USB Charger

Many USB hubs come with a wall wart to provide power to the ports.
Belkin makes them, as well as other brands. Depending on the design,
I'm not sure if it will turn on the power independent of the data.
You'd have to test that. You may be able to get more than .5A from a
port, if the power supply is big enough. I couldn't find any references
to this in the quick Amazon search I did. However, if not, you can use
a dual plug to single plug cable like the external USB hard drive cases
come with. I think someone else mentioned this too. Some Belkin hubs
have a lifetime warranty, as do some other brands. I think some Belkin
hubs also have logic to maximize performance at each port if both USB 1
and USB 2 devices are plugged in to the hub.

Sincerely,

Ron

(PS - If you email me and don't get a quick response, you might want to
call on the phone. I get about 300 emails per day from alternate energy
mailing lists and such. I don't always see new messages very quickly.)
