[ale] FCC approves Comcast takeover of NBC

GE owned them and was trying to unload it since it wasn't part of their
"core" business.  Also as I recall this was owned via Universal which
had Vivendi in Europe as a joint venture partner and GE was doing its
best to get out of that relationship.

 

NBC by the way bought The Weather Channel last year and said they
wouldn't take it out of Atlanta.  I wonder if Comcast feels the same
way.

 

If you watch 30 Rock you can see jokes made about this but they call it
"Cabletown" rather than Comcast in the show.   If 30 Rock gets canceled
we'll know Comcast Management has no sense of humor like GE's did.
