[ale] OT: DVD video format 'Newbie' question

If it is a region issue there are companies that sell DVD players that
have removed region restrictions.   I've gotten a couple in the past for
a friend that has EU DVDs as well as American ones.   (One for when she
was still in France and wanted to see the American ones and another
after she moved back to the US so she could see the EU ones.)
