[ale] server troubles (again)

I remember back when my dream machine included dual 5-1/4" floppies and
a dual 10MB HDDs!  Big thinking for 1987.........the rest of the spec
has been lost in layers of dust in time....

I'm holding out for my quantum computer...forget the flying cars....RinL
