[ale] 3D CAD in Linux?

For 3d modeling I am quite fond of _Art_of_Illusion (
http://www.artofillusion.org/ ), which is all-java and thus
cross-platform. Openscad ( http://www.openscad.org/ ) has been
gaining a lot of traction among 3d printers as well, mostly 'cause
many of us have a good deal of programming experience and maybe not so
much at the actual nitty-gritty of doing computer art with mouse and
keyboard.

So far really outstanding 3d modelling // drafting software for the
open world is pretty thin on the ground. I tried Blender, but the
learning curve was pretty way daunting, even after I bought a book
about it.
