[ale] remote x apps crash X11

I use ssh with X for display back to Cygwin/X on my Windows laptop from
multiple UNIX/Linux servers all the time and haven't seen X11 apps crash
like that.   (I never do the full XDMCP though - just individual apps -
I prefer to work in a single desktop environment.)

Hmm, well quite interesting as I do this on Red Hat, Mandriva, SuSE on 
various machines, but only have that problem on Fedora 12.
