[ale] AMD to Retire ATI Graphics Brand

Unbelievable. I think this will be bad for people who like high end
hardware. I've been somewhat of an ATI / AMD fan of late. I'll throw out
the disclaimer that I cannot currently afford high end hardware. However,
I did build a pc last year and I chose an MSI motherboard that is CAPABLE
of using high end components. Right now, it's stocked with an AMD Athlon
X2 dual core CPU and an cheap ATI 4xxx series graphics card. I was hoping
to upgrade later when I have the money to a Phenom 6 core CPU and 2-4
crossfire linked ATI graphics cards. (Still not sure I'd want to spend a
grand on graphics cards, though.) If this had been their policy before, it
doesn't seem like I would have been able to get a mid-high end motherboard
and minimal integrated graphics. As usual, the geeks and engineers get
dumped for the benefit of the mass market.

(PS - If you email me and don't get a quick response, you might want to
call on the phone. I get about 300 emails per day from alternate energy
mailing lists and such. I don't always see new messages very quickly.)
