[ale] collaborative work environment

Thanks for all the input.   I use Google Docs personally, but I
believe it has issues with large spreadsheets.  To get around that, I
may use a database. I also don't like putting too much proprietary
information on their servers.  The main thing I am trying to
accomplish here is everyone working from the same version of a
document.  In that respect, several of the ideas suggested he will
work better than what we are doing now.

It looks like irc will help a lot.  We have a real problem just
knowing when people are available for a discussion without making
individual phone calls.
