[ale] What are the minimum requirements for a CentOS server to learn on?

You don't need much.

512M of RAM, 10/15 G of Disk, P4 or later.  The RHCT/E stuff isn't
very hardware hungry.  Now if you start talking some of RH's embedded
products like Satellite, or GFS, then it's more important, but basic
sysadmin needs a basic box.
